Camión Studebaker US6


El camión de 2´5 toneladas Studebaker US6 (M16A) fue construido por la empresa Studebaker Corp. (y REO) durante la II Guerra Mundial y constituyó la espina dorsal del transporte rodado aliado. Se construyó en grandes cantidades en Estados Unidos desde junio de 1941 hasta agosto de 1945 y, bajo licencia, en Rusia a partir de principios de 1942.

El Studebaker US6 tenía un motor de 6 cilindros que rendía 94 hp con una transmisión de cinco marchas más dos de transferencia. Entre los tres principales fabricantes, Studebaker Corp., REO y GMC, fabricaron más de 900.000 camiones de los que 195.000 fueron en las versiones 6x4 y 6x6, dos de las trece variantes que tenía este versátil camión. 


 Muchos de estos camiones llegaron a Rusia gracias al programa de Préstamo y Arriendo por el corredor de Persia. En servicio con el Ejército soviético recibió el nombre oficial de US6-62 (Studer, para la tropa) siendo una excelente plataforma para la instalación de los lanzadores múltiples Katyusha. También fue empleado para el transporte de artillería. Rusia recibió casi por completo la producción del modelo 6x6, que totalizaban 105.000 vehículos, junto con grandes cantidades de los 90.000 del modelo 6x4 contribuyendo de este modo a las victorias finales del Ejército soviéticos.

The 2.5 ton truck Studebaker US6 (M16A) was built by the Studebaker Corp. company (and REO) during World War II and formed the backbone of road transport ally. It was built in large quantities in the United States from June 1941 until August 1945 under license in Russia since early 1942.

 
The Studebaker US6 had a 6 cylinder engine which yielded 94 hp with a five-speed transmission and two transfer. Among the three major manufacturers, Studebaker Corp., REO and GMC trucks manufactured over 900,000 of which 195,000 were in the 6x4 and 6x6 versions, two of the thirteen variants that had this versatile truck.

Many of these trucks came to Russia through the Lend-Lease program in the corridor of Persia. In service with the Soviet Army was the official name of US6-62 (Studer, for the troops) to be an excellent platform for the installation of multiple Katyusha launchers. It was also used for the transport of artillery. Russia was almost entirely the production of the 6x6 model, which totaled 105,000 vehicles, along with large amounts of the 90,000 6x4 model thus contributing to the final victories of Soviet Army.
