El Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-2 era similar al anterior (G-1) y se fabricó a la vez pero no disponía de cabina presurizada ni el GM-1 siendo utilizado principalmente para el reconocimiento y caza en Guyanacourt (Francia). Además se experimentó con él en el montaje de dos ametralladoras MG 17 de 7´92 mm en instalación “música de jazz” (Schraege Musik). Se fabricó en número muy superior al G-1 y abarcó gran cantidad de modificaciones.

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-2 was similar to the previous (G-1) and was built at a time but did not have a pressurized cabin or GM-1 being used mainly for reconnaissance and hunting Guyanacourt (France). Also experimented with him in the assembly of two MG 17 machine guns 7.92 mm in installation "jazz" (Schraege Musik). It was made in much higher number G-1 and covered many modifications.

Bf 109 G-2 of 9./JG 54. Oblt. Wilhelm Schilling. Siverskaya, Russia, September 1942. He claimed his 40th victories when he flew this aircraft on September 27th, 1942. Two week later he was shot down and seriously wounded. Camouflage: RLM 70/71/65.
