Experten alemanes: Erich Mix


Major Erich Mix


Erich Mix nació el 27 de junio de 1898 en Labuhnken y participó como soldado de infantería durante la I Guerra Mundial. Aunque más tarde recibió entrenamiento como piloto de caza siendo destinado al Jagdstaffel 54 con el rango de Unteroffizer, rango que mantendría desde junio de 1918  hasta el final de la contienda. Durante este periodo logró tres victorias aéreas al derribar tres aparatos enemigos, más un globo que no pudo ser confirmada.

Tras la guerra estudió Derecho en la Universidad de Greifswald y en 1934 fue elegido como alcalde de la ciudad de Tilsit (1934-1937). Al finalizar este periodo comenzó a volar de nuevo como observador y piloto de caza. Al estallar la contienda estaba sirviendo como oficial técnico con el I./JG 53, unidad con la que derribó 3 cazas franceses Morane sobre Saargemud el 21 de septiembre de 1939 y cuatro más abatidos al día siguiente sobre Saarbrücken. 



En marzo de 1940 fue nombrado comandante del III./JG 2 participando en la ofensiva contra el oeste de Europa. El 21 de mayo otros 3 cazas Morane más fueron derribados por el Bf 109 E-3 (W.Nr.1526) de Mix cerca de Roye. Tras finalizar la campaña la unidad de Mix fue trasladada a Frankfurt/Rhein-Main el 1 de julio. El 27 de ese mismo mes regresó a Évreux dónde permanecería hasta el 4 de agosto mientras que justo un mes más tarde derribaría un Hurricane de la RAF.

Mix fue nombrado Gruppenkommandeur del III./JG 2 hasta el 24 de septiembre de 1940 fecha en la que Goering lo destituiría a favor de líderes más jóvenes, su sucesor sería el Hauptmannk Otto Bertam. La última victoria lograda por Mix sería un bombardero Blenheim derribado sobre den Haag en julio de 1941 mientras dirigía el JG 1. Desde abril de 1943 serviría en el Jafu Bretagne (Fighter Leader, Brittany) hasta el final de su carrera. Mix logró un total de 8 victorias aéreas.

Erich Mix was born on June 27, 1898 in Labuhnken and participated as an infantryman during the First World War. Although later received training as a fighter pilot and was posted to Jagdstaffel 54 with Unteroffizer range, range would keep from June 1918 until the end of the war. In March 1940 he was appointed commander of III./JG 2 participating in the offensive against western Europe. On May 21 another 3 Morane fighters were shot down by Bf 109 E-3 (W.Nr.1526) Mix near Roye. After finishing the campaign Mix unit was moved to Frankfurt/Rhein-Main on July 1. On the 27th of that month he returned to Evreux where he remained until August 4 while just a month later bring down one Hurricane of the RAF.

Mix was named Gruppenkommandeur of III./JG 2 through September 24, 1940 date that Goering depose in favor of younger leaders, his successor would be the Hauptmann Otto Bertram. The last victory achieved by Mix would be a Blenheim bomber shot down over den Haag in July 1941 while leading the JG 1. Since April 1943 Jafu serve in Bretagne (Fighter Leader, Brittany) to the end of his career. Mix achieved a total of eight aerial victories.
