Tractor italiano TL. 37

Tractor de artillería italiano Fiat/Spa TL. 37


Ante el rumbo que estaba tomando Europa en la década de los 30 el Ejército italiano emitió unas especificaciones para satisfacer un contrato para la construcción de un tractor de artillería ligero. Al concurso se presentaron dos empresas, la SPA (Società Piemontese Automobili, subsidiaria de Fiat) y Breda Meccanica Bresciana siendo elegida la primera de ellas con su vehículo TL. 37 en 1938.

El vehículo disponía de cuatro ruedas directrices que le permitían un diámetro de giro de 4´5 metros. Gracias a su motor de cuatro cilindros desarrollaba una velocidad punta de 40 Km/h arrastrando piezas de artillería de 75 o 100 mm en carretera. Podía transportar hasta cinco artilleros, además del conductor y hasta 250 Kg de proyectiles de artillería. Las rudas de grandes dimensiones y potencia le permitían superar pendientes de hasta 40º de inclinación. Tenía una autonomía de 170 Km. El vehículo dio buenos resultados y se fabricó una versión artillada con un cañón 75/27 Model 11 instalado en su parte posterior. El chasis de este vehículo también sirvió para la construcción del camión Fiat SPA-AS. 37 y dos vehículos blindados, el Fiat-SPA S. 37 (Fiat-SPA Autoprotetto S. 37) y el Fiat-SPA AS. 43.

El TL. 37 fue usado por los italianos y húngaros durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, tras el armisticio en 1943 continuó siendo usado por los alemanes debido a sus prestaciones. Finalmente el TL. 37 se mantuvo en servicio hasta 1948 en la Marina italiana.

Before the course I was taking Europe in the early 30's the Italian Army issued a specification to satisfy a contract for the construction of a light artillery tractor. The competition were two companies, the SPA (Società Piemontese Automobili, a subsidiary of Fiat) and Breda Meccanica Bresciana being chosen the first one with your vehicle TL. 37 in 1938.

The vehicle wheel steering available that allowed a turning circle of 4.5 meters. Thanks to its four-cylinder engine developing a maximum speed of 40 Km/h dragging artillery pieces of 75 or 100 mm road. It could carry up to five gunners, besides the driver and up to 250 pounds of artillery shells. The rough and large power allowed him to negotiate slopes of up to 40° tilt. It had a range of 170 km. The vehicle was successful and was made a version with a cannon artillery 75/27 Model 11 installed in the rear. The chassis of this vehicle also was used to build the truck Fiat SPA-AS. 37 and two armored vehicles, the Fiat -SPA S. 37 (Fiat -SPA Autoprotetto S. 37) and Fiat -SPA AS. 43.

The TL. 37 was used by the Italians and Hungarians during the Second World War, following the armistice in 1943 continued to be used by the Germans because of their benefits . Finally the TL. 37 remained in service until 1948 in the Italian Navy.
